As part of a global organization, American Standard Canada can draw on a wide network of resources, helping it bring many of the firsts in the plumbing industry to market. “We have product development in every part of the world, and the great thing about Canada is that we use all of those resources to our advantage,” says Business Leader Harry Kandilas. In 2005, American Standard introduced FloWise, a high-efficiency line of toilets that use 20 percent less water than the standard toilet. The gravity-fed toilet uses 1.28 gallons per flush and was designed using the latest in flushing technology including a patented flush tower and reengineered waterways. "The country as a whole is seeing opportunity to enter the green economy,” Kandilas notes. American Standard is also developing a FloWise shower head that delivers the same pressure as a regular faucet while using 40 percent less water. Other designs such as hands-free fixtures and compact tubs will also curb unnecessary use of water, the company maintains. |
